Lot 27: Monumental Freeblown Vase, Boston & Sandwich Glass Works, Sandwich, Massachusetts, 1840-1870. Elongated neck with fluted trumpet mouth and inward rolled rim, quadruple knop stem and circular foot, polished pontil mark, amethyst, ht. 16 1/4 inches, rim dia. 4 ½ inches, foot dia. 5 3/8 inches. Reference: Barlow / Kaiser – The Glass Industry in Sandwich, Vol. 3 pg. 49. Very few examples are known of this trumpet vase form in an extremely large size. Fine condition.
