Lot 8: “General Washington” And Bust-Eagle Portrait Flask, probably early Pittsburgh district, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1820-1840. Aquamarine, sheared mouth - tubular pontil scar, pint. Pontil chip goes to edge of base, as made. Slightly weakened embossing on the Washington side. Reference: American Bottles & Flasks and Their Ancestry by Helen McKearin & Kenneth M. Wilson, GI-5. Extremely rare mold. The only flask mold with three rows of beaded edges. Fine condition. Ex Ben Crane collection, ex Bob Mebane collection, Jay and Maxine Jacobs collection.
